Today we’ll breakdown the importance of controlling head posture during the delivery and how it could provide more force into the ground which in turn will give more energy to potentially transfer.

But first, if you’re someone interested in developing efficient throwing velocity I’d encourage you to explore my newest ebook option Velocity Development that includes how to best go about optimizing your pitching mechanics to achieve your pitching goals.

If you want personalized 1 on 1 feedback of your pitching mechanics like you will see in the video below I’d encourage you to explore the option of signing up for a Mechanical Analysis.

Recap

It’s a fine line when discussing this topic due to the obvious necessary component momentum plays within the delivery and it’s affect on acceleration. I’m not saying here to remain back for as long as possible but I am saying that for the majority of youth arms, controlling the head posture is arguably the most important teaching point.

I say that because a lot of youth pitchers will tend to rush down the mound which leads to arm drag or other breakdowns. Being able to control the head throughout the delivery is a crucial piece to being on time as approaching foot strike.
