Now I’m all for a pitcher making a dope athletic play but in terms of a play like this one we need to see the big picture..

Obviously we want to get the out but trust me when I tell you 1 out is not worth multiple months on the “IL” (injured list) due to you trying to barehand a come-backer.

I know our instincts are gong to tell us to get that ball no matter what but you have got to trust that it’s not worth a potential devastating injury to your pitching hand.

Now I’m not saying never ever barehand because there are some plays in which a barehand can be of use but when the ball is hit directly at us (granted this play I don’t think it was hit that hard) the ball is typically coming at a greater speed that we’re better off just letting go.
